A Guide to Resiliency: How to live REAL Resilient

With nearly every individual in the world battling some form of societal oppression, the time to uplift each other is NOW! As a societally oppressed individual, I created the REAL Resiliency Project with the aim of educating and uplifting vulnerable populations on the importance of living a REAL Resilient life. REAL Resiliency contains 4 major strategies to living an authentically resilient lifestyle: Respect, Empower, Action, and Lifestyle.


Living an authentically resilient lifestyle requires respect; being respectful to yourself and those around you allows you to continuously advance your personal journey towards battling oppression. As a species we often times lie to our selves regarding our self-worth; whether it being 'I'm not good enough' or 'Because of my oppression I can't accomplish my goal'; implementing strategies to recognizing these tendencies can make a big difference towards improving your internal self respect.


As majority of individuals have experienced some form of societal oppression, whether it be race, gender, ability, and much more; it is necessary to empower each other as well as empower ourselves in the process. The key aspect to remember is what has happened to you and the oppression/inequality you have faced is caused by your environment not by who you are as a person. Separating the occurrences of your inequality and hardships from you as an individual is an effective strategy to become your most authentic self.


Resiliency requires action, ask yourself what steps can I do right here right now to change the language of the societal oppression I am facing? How can I change societies perception of me and my peers? What strategies can I implement in my daily life to promote my personal resiliency? Whether it be implementing frequent breaks or taking time to for yourself, it is extremely important to put yourself first; to quote my favourite television show 'If you can't love yourself, how are you going to love someone else?'


The last strategy for cultivating your most authentic REAL Resilient self, is Lifestyle! What changes can you make presently that can change your future or improve your life? Whether it big or small change can improve even the slightest bit of insecurity and uncomfortableness. Remember you are your first priority, take care of your mental and physical self to become your most authentic self.
