The CEO-Creative Director of Mark-It-Pink, Founder of #GuerreroPartyof5, Marine Conservationist, aspiring Marine Biologist, and your 2022 Royal International Ms. Role Model. This proud mom and wife uses her voice to break the stigma of teen pregnancy and homelessness.
Experiencing homelessness as a teen mom Pinky and her husband, then boyfriend, faced multiple barriers, from financial strain to live with family due to housing insecurity. Despite the significant challenges, they are dedicated to sharing their story of trials and tribulations to instill hope and encouragement in those experiencing similar circumstances. Their story is about overcoming obstacles, striving for greatness, and having faith. They are dedicated to showing the world kindness despite your circumstances and ways to pay it forward to the community/individuals who supported them during this time.
Pinky and her family created their non-profit “#GuerreroPartyof5” to promote kindness and enhance community support. A 501© 3 non-profit aiming to enhance the positive effects of kindness to promote Philanthropy, Charity, and Volunteerism. Their goal is to spread awareness regarding non-profit organizations supporting vulnerable communities in need. They aim to inspire, empower, and motivate the community through action and education. Recognizing and celebrating the stories of those lives transformed by the grace and kindness of non-profits and their volunteers; to inspire future volunteers and supporters to contribute to community efforts and the non-profits behind them.
Pinky launched the #ChooseKindness Campaign three years ago, combining her love of kindness, family, marketing, and non-profit work. Where children and adults can learn about and support a cause they are unfamiliar with through the purchase of stickers. As a working parent, Pinky is always searching for new, fun, and creative ways to engage her children. Her family loves collecting stickers that can be easily placed on water bottles, laptops, and snowboards. Hence, creating a campaign allows everyone to be involved in a fun variety of ways, including those with busy schedules.
Pinky wants the reader to know the story behind her unique name. She writes
“I only know two people with my name: my neighbour’s chihuahua and the cartoon mouse. No, but, in all seriousness, aside from remembering me by my unique name. As someone who was born premature, weighing 3.2 oz, the size of a Barbie doll, and extremely pink. The NICU nurses once gave me a name; you can now remember me by my story. A former teen mom who experienced homelessness overcame obstacles and didn’t fall into the statistics. She changed her story and used it to make a positive difference in her community.”
