With the emergence of the Global COVID-19 Pandemic, individuals of Asian heritage have been targeted due to the falsified belief that they are the root cause of the pandemic; unfortunately for thousands of Asian Canadians their reality has turned from freedom to fear. Millions of individuals around the world are being targeted and falling victim to these Asian hate crimes; being beaten for simply enjoying their afternoon walk or being the target of racial slurs has unfortunately become this populations NEW societal based oppression.
Presently, there is a vast population in which cultivates this falsifiable belief that individuals of the Asian community are the cause of the virus; with little to no evidence, they act on these toxic beliefs in a hateful and violent way causing excruciating pain to the Asian community. These acts are destroying the lives of individuals who felt free to live and breath in peace, their reality now is defined through fear, devastation, anguish, and tragedy.
For this young passionate philanthropist, Vallerie aims to advocate on behalf of Anti-Asian Hate through the power of her voice. As a child, Vallerie has witnessed this systemic racism and hate speech towards her friends of Asian heritage; even has experienced peers discriminating against other children just for being of Asian background. Being half Filipino and Canadian, Vallerie is passionate towards raising awareness regarding Anti-Asian Hate across Canada and the World; through her voice she aims to empower other's to stand up for what is right and protect one-another from societal oppression. Vallerie aims to create a world where her friends, siblings, and family no longer experience fear and violence just for their appearance and cultural background.
