Issue 9: Elizabeth - International United Miss Canada 2020/21

1 in 7 Small Businesses are at risk of going under as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, that is approximately 158,000 Small Businessess across Canada (CFIB, 2020). For this National Titleholder, she is on a mission to decrease this statistic through her social media campaign 'Think Big, Shop Small' to support Small Business Promotion and Development throughout Canada.

As a Small Business owner herself, Elizabeth is no stranger to the struggles and hardships that come with taking on an ambitious goal and seeing it through. Her passion towards impacting the world of Small Businessess developed as a child, dreaming of the endless possibilities to acquire financial gain while having fun! Through her experience's Elizabeth aims to encourage others that their dreams and passions can make a valid and rewarding career, especially through the development of a Small Business. Elizabth has learned that your number one priority should ALWAYS be your own happiness; waking up every morning to work on something you love and exudes happiness within, that is worthwhile. Since discovering this, Elizabeth aims to promote this aspect of Career Happiness and Small Business Development within her personal and professional journey.

Through her Social Media Campaign, Elizabeth aims to uplift and empower Small Businesses by sharing and shopping their products. Each week Elizabeth showcases one Small Business within her campaign, by highlightening their products and business model she aims to increase the business visability to attract further clientele. As having first hand experience, Elizabeth understands how much dedication it takes to attract customer visibility online; with hopes that this campaign will aid in the selling process and creating a faster timeline for businesses to increase their social media presence and expand their clientele.

Another component of the 'Think Big, Shop Small' campaign, is to encourage others to also begin their business venture; with each Small Business feature Elizabeth includes a written component, created by the owners of the Small Businesses. This written component includes the business owner's advice to individuals seeking to start out their own business adventure. Elizabeth's overarching goal for this campaign is to inspire those hesitant to starting up their own business, as well as promoting and empowering current passionate business owners.
